Additional Assistance Programs
Family Independence Temporary Assistance (FITAP)
The Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP) provides cash assistance to families with children when the financial resources of the family are insufficient to meet subsistence needs. The goal of FITAP is to decrease the long-term dependency on welfare assistance by promoting job preparation and work.
Kinship Care Subsidy Program (KCSP)
KCSP provides cash assistance of $222 per month for each eligible child who resides with a qualified relative other than a parent.
SNAP E&T
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training initiative (SNAP E&T) offers SNAP recipients in Louisiana the opportunity to gain skills, training and work experience. The program is provided at no cost to SNAP recipients who participate.
Strategies to Empower People Program (STEP)
The goal of the Strategies to Empower People (STEP) Program is to provide opportunities for work-eligible families of FITAP to receive job training, employment and supportive services to enable them to become self-sufficient.
