Federal Cost of Living Adjustment Will Affect SNAP and Other Benefits Received Through DCFS

12.28.2017 - A federal cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) to Social Security and veterans benefits for 2018 will result in decreases to some Louisiana residents' Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, also known as food stamps, as well as benefits through the Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP) and Kinship Care Subsidy Program (KCSP).

DCFS Launches Online 'Safe Haven' Facility Locator

10.16.2017 - In an effort to prevent infant abandonment and save lives, the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) launched an online mapping tool designed to help the public locate hospitals, fire stations and other facilities where they can legally relinquish a newborn under Louisiana's Safe Haven law.
