Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is encouraging residents to prepare for hurricane season by pre-registering online for Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits (DSNAP).

4.19.17 - A report on human trafficking, trafficking of children for sexual purposes and commercial sexual exploitation showed a 25 percent increase in victims over the past year, with 447 victims reported in 2017, compared to 357 in 2016.
Louisiana Parents can now make Child Support Payments at WalMart, CVS, Albertson's and Other Retail Stores through MoneyGram

2.22.17 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is reminding eligible residents of New Orleans' tornado-impacted area they have two days left to apply for Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) benefits.
DCFS Receives Waiver to Allow Hot Foods Purchased with SNAP or DSNAP Cards in Seven Tornado-Impacted Parishes

2.17.17 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services requested and received approval of a waiver from the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service to allow the purchase of hot foods with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamps) or Disaster SNAP benefits in seven tornado-impacted parishes through March 31, 2017. The affected area approved for DSNAP assistance is generally located south of Dwyer Road and Michoud Bayou, east of Wilson Avenue, north of Almonaster Avenue, and ?west of Gentilly Road. An impact map is attached and can be found at www.dcfs.la.gov/disaster and staff will be stationed at the DSNAP site entrance daily to verify addresses.

Today, the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) marked National Adoption Month with a celebration honoring 532 families who adopted 735 Louisiana foster children between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2016 - the most in one year to date.
