DCFS Celebrates Record Adoptions at 18th Annual Adoption Reception

11.04.16 - More foster children have found permanent homes over the past year than in any year thus far. Today, the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) marked National Adoption Month with a celebration honoring 532 families who adopted 735 Louisiana foster children between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2016 - the most in one year to date.
Governor Edwards, DCFS Announce Federal Approval of Second Month of Disaster Food Assistance for 11 Most Heavily Impacted Parishes

John Bel Edwards and the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services have announced the approval of a second month of Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) benefits for households in 11 parishes that received D-SNAP or supplemental SNAP benefits after the August flooding.
DCFS Issues Nearly $80 Million in Disaster Food Assistance in 21 Parishes

09.13.16 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) issued nearly $80 million in disaster food assistance in 21 parishes impacted by flooding -- with more than $48.9 million in Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) benefits and more than $30.9 million in disaster-related benefits to regular SNAP households.
St. Tammany Parish has Additional ZIP Code Approved for DSNAP

09.08.16 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) received approval today from the federal Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) for an additional ZIP code in St. Tammany Parish that was impacted by recent floods to be added to the third phase of Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP). Beginning tomorrow, residents living in the immediate vicinity of the Tchefuncte River in St. Tammany ZIP code 70433 may also apply for DSNAP.

09.07.16 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) received approval today from the federal Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) for an additional ZIP code in Evangeline Parish that was impacted by recent floods to be added to the third phase of Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP). Beginning today, residents living in Evangeline Parish ZIP code 70589 may also apply for DSNAP.
