Job Fair for those with Disabilities Slated for Houma Thursday

The job fair, which is free to both employers and job seekers, will include booths from a number of community partners who provide resources and services to individuals with disabilities. This year information sessions and seminars will be held, including Social Security counseling from the Louisiana Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (La-WIPA) Coalition.
The job fair in Lafayette is one of nine jobs fairs held across the state during October as part of Disability Awareness Month, which was proclaimed by Governor Bobby Jindal. More than 1,400 people have participated in job fairs already held this month in Alexandria, Shreveport, Lake Charles, Slidell, West Monroe, Metairie, Baton Rouge and Lafayette enabling more than 1,000 job seekers to connect with businesses in the area.
Sponsors of the job fairs, that have worked together for five years to hold this annual event, include Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, the Department of Health & Hospitals' Medicaid Purchase Plan and the Louisiana Business Leadership Network.
Louisiana Rehabilitation Services is an agency within the Louisiana Department of Social Services.
