DSS Support Enforcement Executive Director to Lead National Organization

The Executive Director of the Department of Children & Family Services’ (DSS) Support Enforcement Services (SES) has been elected to lead a national organization of child support directors.

Robbie Endris will serve as president of the National Council of Child Support Directors (NCCSD) for the 2009-2010 term, which begins October 1. Endris was elected during the organization’s annual meeting, held in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, in June. She served as the NCCSD Vice-President in 2008-2009.

“It’s an honor to lead an organization made up of my fellow child support program directors,” said Endris. “The election results affirm the good work we do here in Louisiana to ensure that parents support their children and rely less on state and federal assistance.”

Endris, a native of Leesville, has served as director of DSS’ SES since 2004. Previously she served as director of field operations, as a district manager in Shreveport , and in various positions within DSS.  Endris first started working for the Louisiana Health and Human Resources Administration, now known as DSS, in 1977 as a food stamp intake worker in Rapides Parish.   She is a graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

SES works to enforce and collect court-ordered child support payments and ensure that non-custodial parents provide financial and medical support for their child or children. As well as providing an important means of support to families, child support payments help to offset state and federal costs for other services children would need if custodial parents did not receive the funds.

The NCCSD is made up of child support directors from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and three territories. Its goal is to promote development of legislation and policies that will have a positive effect on child support programs. It also provides a structure for communicating to federal agencies the NCCSD’s views on child support issues, as well as provides a forum for state child support directors to discuss problems and solutions associated with the enforcement and collection of child support payments.

The NCCSD annual meeting is traditionally held in the president’s home state. In 2010, that meeting will be held in New Orleans.
